Products: Spearlab Foam Dewars

Standard vessel (model M-FD-800): This vessel, which holds 800 ml of liquid nitrogen, is our most popular model. It replaces a large sized low profile glass Dewar. The foam dewar has superior durability, safety, and thermal insulating properties. The standard vessel shape is circular, with a protruding handle, so that it resembles a large teardrop., as shown in the above photograph. Each bowl comes with a matching foam lid to insulate the contents from ambient air.

Dimensions of the cylindrical cavity in this vessel are 5.8 inches in diameter by 2.8 inches deep, so that it easily holds 800 ml of liquid nitrogen.

Small vessel (model M-FD-500): This vessel has the same basic size and features as the Standard vessel, but with a smaller diameter cavity. Dimensions of the cylindrical cavity are 4.5 inches in diameter by 2.8 inches deep, so that it easily holds 500 ml of cryogenic liquid.

Large vessel (model M-FD-1400): This version of the popular Standard vessel holds 1400 ml.

Tall Dewar

Tall vessel (model TD-1800): The tall dewar can be used as a replacement for upright glass or stainless steel Dewars. Originally, this vessel was designed for short term storage of canes of protein crystallography samples.

Like the standard cryogenic foam dewar, the tall dewar offers durability, safety, and convenience for processing samples, especially when transferring from conventional shipping Dewars. The insulating properties of the Spearlab tall foam dewar are comparable to those of conventional stainless steel and glass Dewars, at a fraction of the cost. This vessel has a 3.5-inch cylindrical cavity, 12.5 inches deep, which gives it a capacity of 1800 ml liquid nitrogen. The outer profile is a tapered octagon, as shown in the photo.
