Description

4-epitetracycline is an epimer of the polyketide antibiotic tetracycline. In acidic conditions, tetracycline undergoes a reversible epimerization at the fourth carbon producing a mixture of tetracycline and 4-epitetracycline. 4-epitetracycline is soluble in water (10 mg/mL).
