Gentaur pre-stained protein markers are suitable for monitoring protein separation during electrophoresis. It is a mixture of purified recombinant proteins covalently coupled to a blue chromophores and with the apparent molecular weight from 7 kDa to 240 kDa.
Features
Offers visualization of standard proteins without staining during electrophoresis or electrophoretic transfer onto membranes.
Ready-to-use, pre-mixed with a gel loading buffer for direct application onto polyacrylamide gels.
Applications
Suitable for sizing proteins ranging between 7 kDa to 240 kDa on SDS-PAGs and Western blots.
Locating a protein of interest on an unstained gel for excision.
Notes
Highly recommend to aliquot the protein marker in small volume. Avoid multiple freeze/thaw cycles.
Covalently coupled chromophores may affect the mobility of the standard proteins, and the apparent molecular weight may slightly shift. Pre-stained protein marker is good for approximate molecular weight determination as long as they are calibrated against unstained standards in the same electrophoresis system.
Western blotting of large (>100 kDa) proteins may need longer transfer times or higher transfer voltages for efficient transfer.
Quality Control
5 μl of Gentaur prestained protein markers provide expected numbers of bands on SDS-PAGE (Tris-glycine buffer) and after electrotransfer onto a PVDF membrane.
Recommendation for Loading
Apply 5 μl/well on mini gels and 10 ~ 15 μl/well on large gels
For blots, apply 1 ~ 3 μl/well on mini gels and 2 ~ 6 μl/well on large gels
